Hi,

When i try to open my html and images based static project inside visual studio community edition, i am not able to see folders and files in solution explorer. I checked there is no weird settings like disabled view or something. After this update it simply stopped working.

Am i missing some settings ? Please help me to fix this.

Thanks,
Manan

    Hi Manankumar Patel

Thank you for your latest response. I’m glad to hear that the issue has been resolved after updating to Visual Studio 2026. In many cases, installing an update can reset or repair missing components, which may cause the File Explorer dialog to stop working.

To help identify the root cause in the future, you can try the following steps if the File Explorer window doesn’t appear:

    • Check hidden windows: Press Alt + Tab to see if the dialog is already open but hidden behind other windows.
    • Drag and drop: If you still don’t see the dialog, try dragging and dropping the folder or solution directly into the Visual Studio window. This is a simple workaround when the UI isn’t responding.
    • Repair Visual Studio: If Visual Studio can open your folder normally but the UI dialog still doesn’t work, open the Visual Studio Installer, select Repair, and try again.

If you ever need additional help, feel free to reach out to our live chat support.

I hope these tips are useful in case this issue happens again. Since your problem is now resolved, please follow the steps to close the case so others can easily find the right answer.

    Have a great day!

Please check the .cshtml file. Are your folders and files registered there or not? If not, then you need to register them.
otherwise, the solution will not be able to access your files and folders, and they will not be visible in the Solution Explorer.
