Hello,
We urgently need access to a BitLocker recovery key for a company device, but we cannot access the Microsoft account associated with it.
Details:
The account belongs to a former employee, and we do not have access to their phone number. We know the password, but we cannot receive the verification code by email, so we are unable to sign in.
We have already checked spam folders and mail filters, but no code is being received. There are no other verification methods available.
We have started the security info update process, but we urgently need access to the recovery key and cannot wait for the full update period.
Is there any way to verify ownership or retrieve the BitLocker recovery key without access to the original contact methods?
We are a small business and do not have an IT administrator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Dear 小林 裕詞,
The BitLocker recovery key for a device joined to Azure Active Directory is stored within your organization's tenant, not the individual user's account. Since you have the recovery key ID and device name, access the Azure portal with a global administrator account for miyawaki-kogyo.co.jp. Navigate to Azure Active Directory > Devices > All devices, locate DESKTOP-M45P7CB, and select Recovery keys to retrieve the key directly. If no administrator account exists, you must contact Microsoft Support with business verification documents to prove domain ownership and initiate account recovery.
I hope you are clear with the information. Should you have any more questions, feel free to leave a message. It's really appreciated of you to accept the answer to help build the community by sharing your experience with the issue. Thanks!

To retrieve the BitLocker recovery key for a device associated with a former employee's Microsoft account, you typically need to verify ownership of the account. Since you have the recovery key ID and device name, here are some steps you can take:
Unfortunately, without access to the original contact methods or the ability to verify ownership through the standard recovery processes, retrieving the BitLocker recovery key may be challenging. It's crucial to act quickly and reach out to Microsoft Support for assistance.
