Subscription upgrade from family to premium charges full amount, not delta of what I have already paid

I recently attempted to upgrade my subscription from family to Premium and instead of accounting for the $129 I already paid it wanted to charge me the full $199. How do I upgrade while including amount already paid

    Hello Kenneth,

When you upgrade from Family to Premium, Microsoft’s system usually charges the full price for the new plan upfront and then converts any remaining time from your old subscription into extra days on the new plan rather than applying a direct dollar credit. So instead of paying only the difference, you’re essentially buying Premium and extending your subscription based on what you’ve already paid.

The exact number of days added depends on the price difference and remaining time, and sometimes this process doesn’t show clearly during checkout, which is why it feels like you’re being charged twice.

When upgrading your subscription from a Family plan to a Premium plan, the billing system typically charges you based on the new subscription rate without automatically applying a credit for the amount already paid. To ensure that you are only charged the delta (the difference) between what you have already paid and the new subscription cost, you may need to contact customer support directly for assistance. They can help you reconcile the charges and apply any credits appropriately.

It's important to check the specific policies regarding subscription upgrades, as they can vary depending on the service and the timing of the upgrade.
