    Hi Christos Atalianis,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I understand how stressful and disruptive it can be to be stopped by a BitLocker recovery screen, especially when you need urgent access to your device.

The BitLocker Recovery Key ID is only used to help identify the correct recovery key, it cannot be used on its own to unlock the device. As a forum moderator, I don’t have access to recovery keys or the ability to retrieve them. For security reasons, neither Microsoft nor community members are able to recreate or generate a replacement recovery key if it was not previously backed up.

If this is a personal device, you can check whether the BitLocker recovery key was saved to your Microsoft account:

-From another device, open a web browser and go to: https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey

-Sign in using the Microsoft account that was used to set up the device.

-Locate the recovery key and match the Key ID shown on the BitLocker recovery screen.

-Use the matching recovery key to unlock the drive.

    *Notes:

    • If the device was set up, or BitLocker was enabled, by someone else, the recovery key may be stored in that person’s Microsoft account.
    • Starting with Windows 11, version 24H2, the BitLocker recovery screen may display a hint indicating which Microsoft account the recovery key is associated with.

If this device is managed by your organization, I recommend contacting your IT administrator or support team and providing them with the Recovery Key ID shown on your screen so they can check whether the key is stored in your organization’s system.

    I hope this information helps.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reply. I'm here to support.

To recover your recovery key using the recovery key ID, follow these steps:

    1. Open a web browser and navigate to the Administration and Monitoring Website.
    2. In the left pane, select Drive Recovery to access the Recover access to an encrypted drive page.
    3. Enter your Windows sign-in domain and user name to view recovery information. If you are part of the MBAM Advanced Helpdesk Users group, these fields may not be required.
    4. Enter the first eight digits of your recovery key ID (in your case, 48E41CB6) to see a list of possible matching recovery keys, or enter the entire recovery key ID to get the exact recovery key.
    5. Select a reason for the drive unlock from the Reason for Drive Unlock list and then select Submit.

If a matching recovery password is found, it will be displayed, and you can copy it or save it to regain access to your drive.
