iPhone Screen Mirroring when sharing Teams screen

Previously on Teams, I was able to use my iPhone's Screen Mirroring (not to be confused with the new iPhone mirroring app on Macs) to share my Teams screen. This was particularly useful when demoing iPhone applications. For some reason (Teams upgrade?) this no longer works, and all I get when I screen mirror in Screen Sharing mode is a black screen and a small green dot in the top right-hand corner of my monitor.

Something has changed, and I don't know what. I've tried all the advice online; disable mobile data on iPhone, make sure Aeroplane mode is disabled, make sure you're on the same wifi, etc., etc., and nothing works.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks,
Steve

    Hello @Stephen Holmes

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Community!

Before I proceed, I want to reconfirm exactly which feature you’re using: Are you mirroring your iPhone screen to your Mac from the Teams app on your iPhone (that is, you join the meeting on iPhone, tap “Share” > “Share screen,” and expect your iPhone screen to appear on your Mac/meeting)?

If yes, please note that this workflow depends on Apple’s iOS screen broadcasting/AirPlay stack and how macOS receives/renders it. Microsoft Teams does not control that mirroring pipeline; if the mirrored video is blank/black at the OS level, Teams will display it the same way. Apple’s guidance confirms AirPlay/screen mirroring can fail or show blank video unless devices are updated, on the same Wi‑Fi, and properly configured. In such cases, the correct escalation is to Apple Support.

Next actions if this is the scenario you mean:

    1. Test mirroring outside Teams (mirror iPhone to the Mac or a TV first). If it’s already blank there, it’s an iOS/macOS mirroring issue and should be handled by Apple Support.
    2. Ensure iPhone and Mac are fully updated, on the same Wi‑Fi, AirPlay & Continuity are enabled on iPhone, then restart both devices and retry.

If it persists, please contact Apple Support with your device models, OS versions, and the time of the failure so they can review logs.

Let me know how it goes on your end of it you mean another feature, I am happy to clarify.
