Hi Maira Masroor,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum and explaining what’s been happening with your Surface Laptop. I understand how worrying it can be to see lines appear on the screen.
Based on what you’ve described and what’s visible in the image, this doesn’t look like a typical single dead or stuck pixel. Since the lines began along the edge of the display and have been spreading, it may be related to the screen hardware itself.
To help confirm whether this is a software or hardware issue, please check if the lines appear in the Surface UEFI environment:
- Power off the Surface completely and wait about 10 seconds.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button, then press and release the Power button.
- Keep holding Volume Up until the UEFI screen appears.
- Once the UEFI screen is displayed, check whether the same lines are visible there.
If the lines appear in UEFI, this confirms the issue is related to the display hardware rather than Windows or drivers. In that case, the next step would be to submit a repair request so the display can be checked and repaired or replaced. Alternatively, you may also bring the device to a Microsoft Authorized Service Provider for a hardware inspection.
Before sending the device in, Microsoft recommends backing up any important data, as data recovery may not be guaranteed during service.
I hope this helps.
