Hello,

We use SharePoint version 16.0.10417.20097 (KB 5002836 & KB 5002834) - 2APP & 2WFE SHP servers. For some unknown reason, there is a problem with editing and saving InfoPath forms. Users receive an "Internal Server Error" message.

The problem is that it happens randomly to different users on different PCs in different cities. So it is quite difficult for us to identify the problem (also because the error itself occurs randomly). For example, it works fine for me, but if another user logs in on my PC, it ends with an error.

A colleague who is also an administrator at the site has the same problem and gets the same message.

The forms are created in Infopath and open in a browser (Chrome). The error started occurring after migration to new servers.

Thank you for your help and for fixing the problem.

    Hi @durica

Thank you for posting question to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Note: InfoPath is deprecated and will no longer work after Jul 14, 2026. Customers are advised to explore alternatives for this feature. You can read Migration Guidance here to find more details: Infopath 2013 - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Learn

Since this is an Internal Server Error (500) and happens inconsistently, you might need to check ULS log:

    1. Reproduce the error.
    2. Note the exact time + user.
    3. On the WFE that served the request, open the latest ULS log (or use the ULS Viewer) and search for something like: Infopath/StateService/500/ Correlation ID (the error page usually hides it, but it’s in the logs)

Meanwhile, you can reset IIS: Restart IIS (IISRESET) on All Servers in the SharePoint Farm using PowerShell - SharePoint Diary

You can also try clearing browser cache or switching to Microsoft Edge.

I look forward for your reply.
