Outlook on the web does not show a numeric count for search results in a folder when filtering by date range. The search will list all matching messages, but there is no built‑in way in Outlook on the web to display “total number of items returned” for that search.

To see total counts, use Outlook for Windows or Outlook on the web folder counts instead of search results:

    • In classic Outlook for Windows, a folder can be set to show the total number of items (read + unread) in that folder via Folder > Properties > Show total number of items. This shows the total in the folder, not for a date‑filtered search.
    • In Outlook on the web, hovering over or right‑clicking a folder shows the total number of messages in that folder, again not filtered by date.

There is no supported method in the provided documentation to get a count of only the messages returned by a date‑range search in Outlook on the web.
