I am using a new docking station that connects by USB C. The new setup works fine with my work computer so there is no cable/connection issue. My personal laptop detects the ethernet, mouse and keyboard, but will not detect my 2 monitors. I know my USB C port is strong enough to support the displays because with my last docking station, I had 3 external monitors connected. My driver is updated. What could be the issue?

What might be happening is that the docking station uses a different protocol than the one you previously had, it may require additional software for video functions, or there could be a compatibility issue.

In this case, what is happening is that the HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock uses DisplayPort Alt Mode for video through USB-C (this allows video to be sent through USB-C using the DisplayPort protocol). However, it appears that the USB-C port on your HP 15-dy2073dx laptop does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode through USB-C and only supports data transfer. For this reason, your laptop does not recognize the monitors connected to the docking station.
If a USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, it should have a logo like the one shown in the following picture:
If the HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock works correctly on your work computer, it is because that computer likely supports DisplayPort Alt Mode through its USB-C port.
It is likely that the docking station you previously had, worked with your laptop because it used DisplayLink, which includes an integrated chip that processes the video and requires installing a driver in order to function.
