Visual Studio Community 2022 is an older version now, but it can still be obtained in two main ways depending on what is needed.
- For the latest Visual Studio Community (current stable channel)
- Visual Studio Community is only supported on the Stable channel using the latest version. The current stable Community installer is available from the Visual Studio Release History page for 2026 under the “Installation of Visual Studio” section, using the Community bootstrapper.
- For a specific older Visual Studio 2022 release (Enterprise/Professional)
- The Visual Studio Release History pages list specific 2022 versions and provide bootstrappers for installing those exact releases. For Visual Studio 2022, see the Visual Studio 2022 Release History and its “Installation of a specific release” section (for Enterprise/Professional). Community edition is not supported on older channels, only on the latest stable.
- If a Visual Studio subscription is available (school/organization)
- If the school provides a Visual Studio subscription (e.g., via Azure Dev Tools for Teaching or other programs), older Visual Studio versions can be downloaded from the subscription portal:
- Sign in at the subscriptions portal.
- Go to the Downloads page and search for “Visual Studio”.
- Previous versions, including Visual Studio 2022, can be downloaded from there.
If the requirement is specifically “Visual Studio Community 2022” and not just “Visual Studio Community (latest)”, check whether the school offers a Visual Studio subscription or managed installer; otherwise, only the latest Community edition on the Stable channel is officially supported.
