Since you didn't specify your account type, I will provide answer based on the business tag you use. If you're using personal account type (@hotmail, @gmail, @outlook.com....), please let me know so that I can provide you guide with more accuracy.

    Hi @Lisa McCausland,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. There is a few clarification I want to provide based on your circumstances.

End users cannot cancel Microsoft Teams for Business subscriptions. Cancellation must be done by the tenant admin (Global admin / Billing admin) of the Microsoft 365 organization.

Teams for Business is not a standalone consumer subscription. It is included in Microsoft 365 business plans, such as:

    • Microsoft 365 Business Basic
    • Microsoft 365 Business Standard
    • Microsoft 365 Business Premium
    • Office 365 E1 / E3 / E5

Teams access ends when the Microsoft 365 subscription ends. There is no separate Teams cancellation.

However, if you're currently using Teams Essentials, it's a stand‑alone business subscription.

Please follow the steps below to start the cancellation process:

    • Go to the Microsoft admin center and sign in as a global admin.
    • Go to Billing > Licensing
    • Select the subscription you want to manage> Click Manage Subscription Details User's image
    • Click on Cancel Subscription and follow the instructions User's image

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

To turn off recurring billing and cancel a Microsoft Teams-related subscription, use the subscription management experience where it was purchased.

If the subscription is a Teams app subscription purchased inside Microsoft Teams:

    1. Open Microsoft Teams.
    2. Select Apps > Manage your apps.
    3. Go to the Subscriptions tab.
    4. Find the app subscription to stop and select More options ... > View subscription.
    5. Select Cancel subscription and complete the prompts.
    6. For additional billing actions (including recurring billing settings), select Manage more in Microsoft 365 admin center and adjust billing there as needed.

If the subscription is a Microsoft 365/Teams business subscription managed in the Microsoft 365 admin center:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. In Billing > Your products, select the subscription that includes Teams.
    3. Select Edit recurring billing.
    4. In the Edit recurring billing pane, choose Off, then select Save. This stops automatic renewal; the subscription remains active until its expiry date.
    5. To cancel immediately (if eligible), on the same subscription page look for Cancel subscription under Subscription status and follow the prompts. If outside the grace period, only turning off recurring billing will be available.

If the subscription is a personal Microsoft 365 subscription (Teams included) on a consumer account:

    1. Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Under Services & subscriptions, locate the Microsoft 365 subscription that includes Teams and select Manage.
    3. To stop future charges only, select Turn off recurring billing and confirm.
    4. If Cancel subscription is available instead, select it and follow the prompts to cancel; access continues until the end of the current paid period.

Note: Turning off recurring billing does not immediately end service; it prevents future automatic charges and the subscription runs until the shown expiry date.
