Visual Studio 2022 auto updated overnight to version: 17.14.28

Visual Studio 2022 auto updated overnight to version: 17.14.28. I had projects open on my machine. I lost over 10,000 lines of code (on a C# project) and at least 10 forms on a project I had opened. I cannot find any of the code i had in this project, and I can no longer open .VR projects (Visual RPG) which we were converting to C#.

How can I get a complaint out about this version upgrade?

To submit a complaint or report this upgrade issue, use the official Visual Studio feedback channels so it reaches the product team:

    1. Use “Report a Problem” in Visual Studio
      • Open Visual Studio 2022.
      • Go to Help > Send Feedback > Report a Problem.
      • Describe the issue (version 17.14.28, loss of C# code and forms, inability to open VR projects).
      • Attach screenshots and, if possible, logs or a small sample solution that shows the problem.
    2. Use Developer Community via the web
      • Go to the Visual Studio Developer Community problem search for Visual Studio 2022 and either:
        • Upvote an existing issue that matches this behavior, or
        • Create a new issue with full details (VS version, project types, what was open during update, what is missing now).
      • The release notes and “Known Issues” section for Visual Studio 2022 also link directly into Developer Community where similar issues are tracked and discussed.
    3. Include project-type and migration details
      • Specify that C# WinForms/WebForms projects were affected and that Visual RPG (.VR) projects can no longer be opened.
      • Mention whether these projects were originally created in earlier Visual Studio versions and whether any migration prompts appeared.
      • If the projects are older or nonstandard types, call that out explicitly so the team can check compatibility and migration behavior.
    4. Check for known issues and add your case
      • Review the Known Issues list for Visual Studio 2022 and, if a matching issue exists, add comments and diagnostics there so the team can correlate your case with others.

These channels are monitored by the Visual Studio engineering team and are the correct way to file formal complaints, bug reports, and data-loss incidents.
