How to convert email into a calendare event using outlook.offlice.com website?

I'd like to convert an email about an event into a calendar event to remind myself about when the event starts and how to join.

In desktop Outlook, I would click and drag the email onto the calendar toolbar icon, and it would create a event with details pre-filled in.

With the website, it creates a blank event.

I checked the menu options by right-clicking the email in my browser, and there are no options to create an event.

Am I missing something? Or should I submit a feature request(how?) to add this as a feature to outlook.microsoft.com?

    Dear @John,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum

I understand that you're looking for a drag-and-drop feature that allows you to directly create a calendar event from an email in the Classic Outlook (desktop version). From my research, unfortunately, this feature has not yet reached the new Outlook (whether web-based or in the newer desktop versions).

If this is a feature you'd like to see implemented, I suggest keeping an eye on the Microsoft Outlook blog or the Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365 for any updates on this feature. In the meantime, I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. I also strongly recommend that you share your detailed experience and feedback directly with the Microsoft product team through their official channels. This is the most effective way to make your voice heard and influence future feature improvements and adjustments.  You can visit the Ideas · Community to submit a new idea or vote on existing one. Our product team is in charge of this site, and they constantly check customer reviews and feedback. The higher the number of votes, the more attention the team will pay to it. Many features are developed and improved based on customer feedback. As a moderator, I will also pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for further consideration. While we don't directly influence product design, user feedback is actively reviewed and helps prioritize future development. If you’re unable to submit feedback yourself, please feel free to reach out to me, and I’ll be happy to submit it on your behalf.

I appreciate your kindness and understanding as Microsoft navigates these evolving product changes. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything else. Have a wonderful day!

Outlook on the web does not currently support converting an arbitrary email directly into a pre-filled calendar event the same way classic desktop Outlook does (for example, by dragging the message onto the Calendar icon or using a “Create event from this email” command).

What Outlook on the web can do automatically is create certain types of events (flights, hotel reservations, car rentals, package deliveries, dining reservations, events, bills) from supported senders and add them to the calendar via the Events from email feature. These are created automatically based on message content; they are not user-invoked conversions of any email.

To manage what Outlook on the web adds automatically:

    1. In Outlook on the web, select Settings (gear icon).
    2. Select Calendar > Events from email.
    3. For each event type (Flights, Hotel reservations, Car rentals, Package delivery, Dining reservations, Events, Bills), choose whether to:
      • Don’t show event summaries in email or on my calendar,
      • Only show event summaries in email, or
      • Show event summaries in email and on my calendar.
    4. Optionally clear Mark events as private so only I can see them if these should be visible to others with access to the calendar.

For classic Outlook on the web, the path is:

    1. Settings > Options or Mail.
    2. Calendar > Events from email.
    3. Configure which event types are added, or choose Don’t add events to my calendar from email.

If the email does not fall into one of the supported “Events from email” categories, the calendar item must be created manually in Outlook on the web, and the details copied from the email. The context provided does not include a supported way to replicate the desktop drag-and-drop behavior or a documented feature-request channel specific to this scenario.
