Hacked Email Account

My hotmail email has been hacked and the password has been changed so I can't access the account. Microsoft has verified my ownership of the account and sent an email for password reset. However, I can't access my account because the password has changed, when Microsoft offer to send a verification code to my phone, I can't receive it because I don't have that phone number anymore. This means I can't access my account despite Microsoft verifying me as the owner.

What can I do to get back into my account?

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Based on your description, you will need to provide an alternative/different email address that you have access to under the "Contact Email Address" in order to acquire the password reset link once your account recovery request is approved.

If you do not have an alternative email address to receive the password reset link, please create a new one on account.microsoft.com

Then kindly submit another request via the account recovery web form: https://account.live.com/acsr

Important: If you have an active 2FA, ACSR will inform you that your recovery request will be ignored. If you only receive a message that the recovery request is either successful or indicates insufficient information, this means that 2FA is disabled. Please take note in case the Hacker was able to activate the 2FA feature in your account.

You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft, and you can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

If your Microsoft account recovery request was not granted, please review this link for tips on improving your chances of a successful recovery: https://support.microsoft.com/office/dc56c3e3-dff0-4ed5-8edb-60290eea6b53

Please be advised that Microsoft Support will not be able to grant you access to your account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl
