Managing presence indicators such as Available, Busy, or Away to reflect user availability
Hello @Koundinya Jajam,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
If Microsoft Teams is showing Out of Office even when you are online, it is often related to your Outlook Automatic Replies or calendar status, since Teams syncs presence information with Exchange/Outlook.
You may want to check the following:
- Check Automatic Replies (Out of Office) in Outlook
- Open Outlook (Web or Desktop).
- Go to Settings > Mail > Automatic replies.
- If Automatic replies are enabled, turn them off and save the changes.
- Check your Outlook calendar
- Open your Calendar in Outlook.
- Look for any event marked as Out of Office.
- Edit the event and change Show as to Free or Busy, or remove the event if it is no longer needed.
- Reset your Teams status: Change your status in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support
- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Click your profile picture.
- Manually set your status to Available.
- Sign out and sign back in to Teams
This helps refresh the presence status after the changes.
If possible, could you also confirm whether this issue occurs in Microsoft Teams desktop app or Teams on the web browser?
- If the issue occurs in Teams on the web, try opening Teams in an InPrivate/Incognito browser window to see if the status behaves the same.
- If the issue occurs in the Teams desktop app, you may try clearing the Teams cache, which can help resolve presence or status synchronization issues.
Steps to clear the Teams cache (Windows):
- If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and select Quit.
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Enter the following path and select OK: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
- Delete all files and folders in this directory.
- Restart Microsoft Teams and sign in again.
Clearing the cache removes temporary files that may cause client issues, and the cache will be rebuilt automatically the next time Teams starts.

If the issue continues, could you please share a screenshot of the status shown in Teams? Please make sure to hide or blur any personal information before sharing. Hope this helps.
