I have Gmail on my Outlook365. I changed my Google password and when researching how to change my password on Gmail was told I needed to uninstall my Gmail account and reinstall it, which I did. When I try to reinstall my Gmail account on Outlook365 I get a message I'm unable to set up Google account with IMAP. I've checked Google and IMAP is on. At not poiint during the setup process am I prompted to enter a password. I've tried using Advanced setup option with same results. How can I enter new password on Outlook365?

To update the Gmail password in classic Outlook for Microsoft 365 and fix the IMAP setup issue, use these steps:

    1. First, confirm IMAP is enabled in Gmail (already done, but verify):
      • In a browser, go to Gmail.
      • Select Settings (gear icon) > See all settings.
      • Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
      • Under IMAP Access, make sure Enable IMAP is selected.
      • Select Save Changes if needed.
    2. Make sure Outlook is not requiring SPA for the Gmail IMAP account:
      • In classic Outlook, when adding the IMAP account manually, on the IMAP details page ensure Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is unchecked. This is required for IMAP accounts such as Gmail.
    3. Re-add the Gmail account from Control Panel so Outlook prompts for credentials:
      • Close Outlook.
      • Open Control Panel in Windows.
      • Select Mail.
      • Select Email Accounts....
      • On the Email tab, select New.
      • Enter name and Gmail address.
      • Enter the password in the Password and Retype Password boxes.
      • Select Next and follow the on‑screen steps. Outlook should now prompt for and store the updated password.
      • When account setup completes, select Finish and reopen Outlook.

If Outlook still does not accept the password and shows messages about needing an app password, generate an app password in the Google account and use that instead of the normal Google password when Outlook asks for the password.
